SHORTEST DAY
UNDER 10 HOURS DAYLIGHT GRADUAL INCREASE FROM NOW} JVith the sun at the most northerly position of its orbit and its noon altitude at a minimum, New Zealand is now experiencing the shortest days of the year. Although June 21 and June 22 are regarded as the days with the shortest periods of daylight during the winter solstice, New Zealand sun tables show that Sunday, with the sun rising at 7.33 a.m. and setting at 5.11 p.m., is the shortest day this year. . From now on the hours of daylight will gradually increase as the sun rises higher. Although, according to the tables, the sun will start to-day to set later, it will not rise earlier until July 11.
