INGLESIDE IN PAEROA SGT. A. REID FAREWELLED PRESENTATION ON SATURDAY I At the monthly ingles ide the Paeroa Caledonian Society h*eld m the Parish Hall on Saturday night a farewell was tendered to Sgt. A. Reid, of Netherton. Sgt. Reid, said Mr Murdoch, chief of the society, was a keen member and had always done what he could for the betterment of the society in Paeroa. His departure, he added, would be felt by all. Mr W. Pirie also added his appreciation. Token Of Esteem In making the presentation, Mr Murdoch asked Sgt. Reid to accept a small token of their esteem and appreciation of the work that he had done. Sgt. Reid suitably replied. A varied programme of dancing and items continued until midnight when the hearty singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought to a close a very enjoyable evening. Items rendered were:—Mr A. Stinear, songs; “Scots Wa’ Hae,” and “Bless This House”; Miss J. Mclnnis, Sword Dance and Highland Fling; Master Billie Kearns, song, “Road to the Isles,” and a humoresque, “Whoa Mule”; Miss E. Buchanan, songs, “The Hills of Donegal,” and “A May Morning”; Mr J. Maunder, songs, “The End of a Perfect Day,” “That Dear Old Mother”; Misses Colleen Mathie•son and Valerie Saunders, song and tap dance;. Mrs W. Kearns, songs, “Bluebells of Scotland,” and “Cornin’ Thru’ the Rye”; Mr J. Maunder (encore), “Sunshine of Your Smile,” and “Smilin’ Thru’.” The accompanists were Mrs R. Wemyss, Mrs Stinear and Mrs W. Kearns. Mrs Wemyss supplied the music for the dances and Mr W. Pirie was M.C.
