PAEROA INSTITUTE MEETS GARDEN CLUB PROPOSED RESULTS OF COMPETITIONiS Great interest was. taken by the members in the monthly meeting of the Paeroa Women’s Institute held in the Civic Hall on Tuesday, June 15. Mrs E. M. Hill presided, giving the monthly motto; “Sweet memories fill our hearts to-day, of friends both near and far away.” The Institute prayer was read by Mrs E. Spinks. Referring to a letter received, the president asked that all members assist in making a contribution of books of suitable type to the Armed Forces. It was decided to form a garden club; all intending members were invited to attend a meeting to be held at the residence of Mrs E. Williams this month. Mrs Tate (late of the Avondale Women’s Institute) kindly offered her services as convener 'of the drama circle. A good report from the May meeting of the Auckland District Federation was read by Mrs A. W. Whisker. Mrs V. Turton was the recipient of the birthday bouquet. A floral spray was presented to Mrs J. Brown, who came as a visitor for the afternoon and gave a musical quiz which was greatly enjoyed by all. The demonstration given by Mrs C. Nield on the making of novelty bread brooches was very interesting. Winners of the monthly competitions were.—New garment from old: j Mrs M. A. Hollinshead. Sausage rolls: Mrs I. F. Homer. Best bloom: I Mrs E. M. Hill. Musical quiz: Mrs E. I Spinks. Wandering shilling: Mrs E. Spinks. !
