IMPROVEMENT WANTED
ROADSIDE DRAIN AT TURUA REQUEST MADE TO THE BOARD A request that the Turua roadside drain be reconditioned for a distance of eight chains from the Jubilee outlet northwards was made by Mr H. H. Allen, of Turua to Thursday’s meeting of the Hauraki United Drainage Board.* Mr Allen wrote explaining that he had two sections between the Jubilee drain and the Turua Presbyterian Church with a main outlet drain between them which was the main for the drainage of his block of land back to the Oparia road. “The board’s roadside drain has in the past slipped badly and closed in and there is neither width for capacity at the bottom of the drain nor the depth to give me the drainage for my centre drain,” wrote Mr Allen. “Mr Johnson, your foreman, is familiar with the position and said’ he would bring the matter to your notice but asked me ’to make my request in writing to you. It is a job that should cost very little for the short distance but means so much to me,” the letter concluded. The matter was left in the hands of Mr R. B. Madgwick and the overseer, Mr W. Johnson, to finalise.
