PAEROA WIN AGAIN

WAIHOU BEATEN 10 TO 3 match at te aroha lN f GAME SEEN r t In a last, interesting rugby game played on the Te Aroha Domain on Saturday the Paeroa junior representative team defeated a Waihou 'Home Guard team by 10 points to three. In the first half of the game Paeroa dominated play but after the interval weight and fitness began to tell and the Paeroa team was hard put to hold the home team from scoring. Paeroa (green). —C. Speechley’s Drop-kick Waihou were penalised near midfield and Shilton had a shot at goa but did no good. In the ensuing scramble Speechley secured and with a nice drop-kick gained four points for the greens. Paeroa 4, Waihou 0. With the ball at his toe Shilton broke through the Waihou defence but Johhnson collected and kicked out. The Paeroa backs got away but Baker held on too long and was caught in possession, Waihou breaking away

Paeroa worked, to the Waihou line where several line-outs and scrums -were held but the whites’ defence saved the day. iPaeroa again launched an attack but Johanson fielded a kick from Shiton and found the line near mid-fieid. Speechley picked up a long kick going at top speed when Waihou broke through and found the line with a pretty kick. Paeroa On The Attack Waihou worked to the Paeroa- line and in a scramble broke across but the ball came to Speechley who forced paeroa broke through and carried play the length of the field but overran the ball under the posts and Waihou were able to get round. Paeroa continued to press and Baker cut through when the green backs got away but was well grassed when he hung on too long. Chainey with some pretty dribbling took the ball down the line from halfway, beat Johanson but.in the race for the ball was beaten near the line. Paeroa continued to press and the backs got away right on Waihou’s line with Waihou out of position but fumbling spoilt the movement. In the ensuing scramble on the line Waihou were penalised but Speechley could do no good with the kick which was from well out. Paeroa Set The Pace Paeroa continued to set the pace and play was well in Waihou territory - The whites twice forced in a few minutes to gain relief. Half-time was called with Paeroa attacking. Chainey picked up prettily to save a try. Again the whites worked to Paeroa’s goal line and in a scramble Paeroa were penalised for off-side play. Johanson missed the kick. Back came Waihou to the attack and bustling tactics carried the white right to the green goal line. In a scrambe near the Paeroa line Waihou were awarded a free kick in a handy position and Johanson had no trouble with the. kick. Paeroa 7, Waihou 3. Both teams were tiring badly at this stage. Chainey put Paeroa on attack when he carried play to the Waihou line. Waihou defence held but again Paeroa attacked and in a scramble over the line Baker dived on the ball near the posts.
