HEAVY MAINTENANCE
WORK ON ROADS AND BRIDGES MATERIAL BECOMING SCARCE “All other roads at this end of the county have received regular supplies of metal and that section of the Maratoto road giving access to settlement has received extra heavy maintenance”, reported the engineer, Mr L. E. Shaw to the June meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council. The report added: — “Water tables on most roads have •been re-conditioned and several bridges have required fairly heavy repairs. Stocks of material for this purpose are- becoming low and replacements of timber are difficult to obtain. “At the Waihi end of the county conditions are much the same except that road maintenance is not beingkept up to the usual good standard. “Bridge maintenance has also been heavy.”
