PLAY AND DANCE

FUNCTION AT KEREPEEHI ENJOYABLE EVENING AID SOLDIERS’ PARCEL FUND A social evening and dance organised by the Kerepeehi branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union in aid of the Kerepeehi Soldiers’ Parcel Fund was held in the Kerepeehi Hall on Thursday evening. The Ngatea Women’s Institute Dramatic Circle who recently won the Grace Phillips Memorial Cup Competition at the Auckland festival presented a play which was greatly enjoyed by a large audience. The following ladies took part in the play: Ann (Mrs Coppins), Dora (Miss Paul), Isolda (Mrs Hughes), Pen (Mrs 'Grbich), Jessie (Mrs Lee), Ada (Miss Dalgety). Mrs Cleave, Ngatea, was the manageress. Little Miss Colleen Pearce’s dances were fully appreciated, being the Irish Jig, Sailors’ Hornpipe and two tap dances.

Mrs P. Innis supplied the music for the dance and Miss J. Hayes played the extras.

The president, Mrs A. L. Fisher thanked the Ngatea ladies for coming along and also those present for their support. Mr W. Bailey was the M.C. The ladies’ committee who helped to make the evening a success were Mesdames A. L. Fisher, A. Strong, R. Harvey, R. Wentworth, A .Rawlins, W. Bailey, I. Poland and I. Hooper. The fund will benefit to the extent of £ll 10s Od. Winners of the Monte Carlo were Miss N. Stansell and Mr E. Quinn.
