SIXTH TERM
MR C. C. RAE CHAIRMAN
COROMANDEL COUNCIL
ANNUAL MEETING LAST WEEK
The annual meeting of the Coromandel County Council was held in Coromandel at noon on Wednesday, June 9, Mr C. C. Rae being re-elected chairman for the ensuing 12 months. When the clerk, Mr J. H.'Lucas, called for nominations, Mr E. M. Minifie proposed that Mr Rae be elected chairman. This was seconded by Mr C. S. A. Geard.
There being no further nominations, Mr Rae was declared unanimously elected for the sixth year in succession. In returning thanks, Mr Rae said that it was particularly gratifying to have the unanimous support of the council. It would be an added stimuland to him for the next twelve months. He thanked the councillors
who had spoken for their kind remarks and the others for their silence, which has meant the same thing. “Coromandel will, come out of the ruck with a bound and we must be prepared to go ahead when things start to move as they surely will do when this war is over,” said Mr R ae - “I also wish to thank Mr Lucas and Mr Benham for their help in this difficult period we have passed through. Also I must thank the press for the assistance given in keeping the ratepayers all over the county up-to-date with the activities in the various parts of it,” added Mr Rae. Mr Rae concluded his remarks with an invitation to the councillors, staff and press to lunch with him.
