GUILD FAREWELL
FUNCTION HELD AT TURUA
PRESENTATION TO MRS DAGGER
The Turua Anglican Ladies’ Guild tendered a farewell dance to Mrs Dagger in the Turua Hall on Tuesday night, June 8, when a happy crowd gathered.
Mrs A. Clark, Mrs Thrupp and Mr A. Whitehead supplied the music for the dancing while several interesting competitions were held during the evening.
The Monte Carlo was won by Mrs T. Lowe and Mr C. Robertson. The Rev. R. K. Dobson, in presenting Mrs Dagger with a cheque, expressed the good wishes of all present. He said that Mrs Dagger had been an active member of the church guild and Mothers’ Union and Turua was very sorry to lose her. She had 'been a resident of Turua for the past 28 years and her new home was to be in Auckland, where she would be living quite close to the Rev. Truman, so she would still be well looked after, also her daughter Dulcie. Mr A. Sutton, who replied on behalf of Mrs Dagger, thanked everyone for coming along and making it such a pleasant evening and for all the good wishes extended to Mrs Dagger and Dulcie. Mrs Dagger realised, he said, that she was leaving many good friends behind her and thanked everyone for the presentation.
A happy evening concluded with the singing of Auld Lang Syne*
