Mr C. F. Pearce; Kerepeehi, is spending a few days in Auckland. Mr.M, Strong has returned to Kerepeehi after a holiday in Auckland. Captain C. A. Blackwood is at present spending leave in Paeroa. Gnr. G. Bethune is spending furlough in Paeroa with his wife and daughter. . Mr Edwin Edwards, Mayor of Paeroa, has been nominated by the Paeroa Borough Council and the Ohinemuri County Council as a member of the Paeroa Rehabilitation Committee.
Mr R. W. Lowry of Hikutaia, was appointed at Wednesday’s meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council to nil the vacancy on the council caused by the resignation of Mr M. A. Ellis, a representative of the Komata Riding. Mr J. J. Shallue and the engineer, Mr L. E. Shaw, were appointed at Wednesday’s meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council to represent the council at the conference of local bodies to be held in Hamilton on June 23 when the question of the eradication and control of ragwort will be discussed. At Wednesday’s meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council, Mr J. J» Shallue was, appointed the council’s representative on the Thames Hospital Board to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr M. A. Ellis. The chairman, Mr W. Marshall, and the clerk, Mr A. A. Jenkinson, were appointed at Wednesday’s meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council to represent the council at the N.Z. Counties Conference to be held in Wellington on July 28.
