FRIDAY NIGHT CLOSING

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Last Friday night another few shops in Paeroa closed. Could someone inform me if this is to be the procedure until all the shops are closed and if there is not still some organisation in the town that will function, even if feebly, j’ust long enough to settle the fact of whether there is to be or not to be a late Friday night in Paeroa? The usual Friday night shoppers are gradually drifting to another town while shoppers from a distance are forced to make an extra trip and use petrol and tyres—one trip for shopping and one for amusement. In the meantime confusion reigns among the shopkeepers and general public. —I am, etc., “FARMER” Paeroa, 8:6:43.
