LARGE METHODIST SOCIAL CHURCH ANNIVERSARY FUNCTION HELD IN PAEROA (From the Ohinemuri Gazette of May 31, 1903) There was a large gathering at the,social held in the Methodist Church, Paeroa, on Wednesday evening -last, in connection with the church anniversary. Occasion was also taken to tender a welcome to the Revs. Harrison and Godbehear. The Rev. Belton. presided. During the evening solos were rendered by Messrs V. Gentil, M. Bramley and F. Miller and Messrs Reid and Law; a duet by Messrs Reid and Griffin; and a recitation by Miss A. Field. Several anthems and jubilee choruses were also rendered by the choir in a very pleasing manner, in the course of which Mrs Gardener and Mr Griffin sang a duet, and Miss Miller and Mr Law rendered solos. Speeches were made by the Revs. Belton and Abernethy, Mr A. Tetley and Captain Williams, < welcoming the Revs. Harrison and Godbehear to the district, these gentlemen making suitable replies. Apologies for non-at-tendance were received from the Revs. Cowie and McArthur. An excellent supper was provided, and was well appreciated by the , large number present.
