DEMAND FOR SUNDRIES £l2/15/- FOR YOUNG COWS SUCCESSFUL CLEARING SALE Newton King Ltd., report holding an exceptionally large clearing sale on account of Mr H. Finnerty at Peria, where the offering was so large that it was necessary to have three auctioneers operating at the one time. The sale commenced at 10.30 a.m. sharp and concluded at 4.30 p.m. There was a tremendous crowd in attendance and some hundreds of buyers from all parts of the Waikato and surrounding districts were present, and a most successful saie resulted. The herd of 140 Jersey and Jerseycross cows came forward in quite good condition and sold to a very large bench of buyers, top young cows selling from £ll t0.£12 15s. The 28 hacks and farm horses also created keen interest and sold readily to buyers from far afield. Purchasers showed very "keen interest in the sundries and implements, the last mentioned, which were in new condition, sold at prices well above the vendor’s expectations. The advertised line of 2th and 6th ewes on account of a client sold readily at very satisfactory prices. Quotations: — Choice quality young Jersey cows, £ll 10s to £l2 15s; choice Jerseycross cows, later calvers, £lO to £ll ss; Jersey and Jersey-cross cows, later calvers, £8 10s to £9 15s; Jersey cows, aged and later calvers, £6 10s to £7 15s; good quality 2-year Jersey
I heifers, £lO to £lO 15s; good quality 2-year Jersey heifers, later, £8 15s to £9 10s; 2-year Jersey and Jerseycross heifers, £6 10s to £7 10s; Jersey heifer calves, to £3 ss. Horses. —Good 4-year to 5-year light draught fillies broken to chains realised from £2l to £32; 4-year light draught geldings broken to chains, £l6 to £2O; 3-year geldings and fillies, £l2 to £l4 10s. The thoroughbred bay hack realised £33, while the grey mare Nifty was sold at £32; other good hacks sold from £ll to £l6 10s. Pigs.—Tamworth sows to farrow, £3 2s 6d to £5; good slips, from 18s to 27s 6d; smaller slips, 14s to. 16s; weaners, 7s. ■Sheep.—Best 2th to 6th.ewes, r.w.
