MR AND MRS A. McCOLLUM

FAREWELL AT WHAREPOA

PRESENTATION FROM DISTRICT

In presenting Mr and Mrs A. McCollum with a handsome fireside chair and china cabinet at the farewell function held in their honour in the Wharepoa Hall recently, Mr E. H. Bax, on behalf of the residents of the surrounding district spoke highly of Mr McCollum’s activities throughout the district. Mr and Mrs McCollum will in future reside in the Maratoto Valley.'

“The people of Wharepoa,” said Mr Bax, “will miss Mr McCollum and his family. He has done a lot for this district and we will find it hard to replace him.” Mi’ Bax extended to the family the best wishes of "the people and wished them the best of luck in their new' sphere.

Mr D. Mackay, on behalf of the Thames County Council, of which Mr McCollum is a member, said that the latter had done wonderful work for the district during his- term on the council. Mr Mackay apologised for the absence of the county chairman, Mr D. Courtney, who had been called away to Wellington. In District Since Childhood

In reply, Mr McCollum thanked the residents for the presents, and said that he would find it hard to leave the district, since he had been there from, childhood. What work he had done for the district had been done with great pleasure. The Monte Carlo was.won by Miss S. McNeil and Mr H. Brown. Mrs G. Avery and Mr H. Alley won the euchre prizes. Modern dance music was supplied by the ever-popular New Collegians orchestra, “White Christmas” and “This Love of Mine” being among the tunes played. The M.C. was. Mr E. H. Bax.
