Mr W. ‘ Hamilton (Whenuakite) asked the council if it would support representations being made to the Rehabilitation Board by the Mercury Bay Co-op. .Dairy Co., Ltd., recommending the board to consider the taking over of a block of land of approximately 3000 acres at Whangapoua being good flat and undulating hill country the'greater part of which would be highly suitable for dairying and easily and economically brought

Representations Supported It was moved by Mr D. Courtney and seconded by Mr H. S. Curtis that the council strongly support the representations being made by the Mercury Bay Co-op. Dairy Co., Ltd., on this matter. Mr Courtney also moved, seconded by M/r W. Hamilton, that the council recoi/imend to the Rehabilitation Board, Wellington, for its consideration the taking up of a valuable block of lapd of approximately 3000 acres at Hikuai believed to be under the control of the State Forest Service, which in the opinion of this council, would be ideal from every point of view for the settling of returned soldiers and easily worked and brought in. The land adjoined the present Hikuai Soldier Settlement and the council decided to request 'that the board have inquiries made into this suggestion as the council considered it would be of very great help and assistance to the present soldier settlement adjoining and that the council would be pleased to be of any further help or assistance in the matter.
