Races At Te Aroha
The Railways Department advertises in this issue particulars of train arrangements in connection with Poverty Bay Turf Club’s race meeting at Herriesville on May 15.
In Pyjamas “They are lucky to have pyjamas these days,” commented the Magistrate, Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., in the Paeroa Court on Monday when counsel mentioned that some residents of Paeroa had had to chase wandering stock from their gardens in their pyjamas.
Lacerations To The Face Severe lacerations to the face, concussion and shock were suffered on Sunday by Miss Shirley Herkt, aged 21, service station attendant, of Runciman, when the steel rim of a truck tyre she was pumping flew off and struck her in the face. She was taken to the Auckland Hospital. Miss Herkt is a daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Herkt, former well-known residents of Kerepeehi and Turua.
Farewell Social A farewell social will be tendered Major and Mrs T. R. Moore of the Paeroa Salvation Army in the Salvation Army Hall, Paeroa, on Thursday, May 13, commencing at 7.30 p.m. A full programme*of items, tributes and supper will be provided. All are welcome.
