ROLL OF HONOUR
LATEST CASUALTY LIST NGATEA AND. PAEROA BOYS PRIVATE L H. L. BLACK Private lan Hamilton Lewis Black, reported in a recent casualty list as killed in action, was well and popularly known in Ngated, where he was on the staff of the Ngatea District High School before being transferred to Taupo. Private Black was the husband of Mrs I. J. Black, of 5 Alderly road, Mount Eden, and the only son of Mr and Mrs W. J. Black, of Te Kuiti road, Otorohanga. He is also survived by a small son.
PRESUMED KILLED
PILOT-OfAcER G. F. BEAVER
Pilot-Officer Gordon Findlay Beaver who was reported as presumed killed in a recent casualty list issued by the New Zealand Royal Air Force, is the youngest son of Mrs I. Beaver, of Paeroa and formerly of Waitakaruru.
Pilot-Officer Beaver was Captain of a Hampden aircraft and had completed over 30' raids on enemy territory and was due to go off operations for a rest period or instructional duties.
He gained his wings in New Zealand in 1940 and early in 1941 left for England via Canada. Prior to enlistment in the Air Force Pilot-Officer Beaver was on the staff of the Thames Post Office.
