NOT PRACTICAL
COUNTRY RESIDENTS & LIBRARY DECISION OF THE COUNCIL A suggestion that residents of the districts surrounding Paeroa be permitted to join the Paerda Public Library, free of charge similarly to the privilege extended to residents of the borough was turned down at Thursday night’s meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council on the recommendation of the Library Committee who pointed out that the scheme was not practical at present due to the probable increase in expenditure which would be incurred.
The Library Committee reported as follows on the matter: —-
“Your committee begs to report having held a meeting on April 7 in the library reading room to consider the matter as requested by the council of the advisability of ask'-'- Lie councils of the adjacent count.' 1 make a donation to the library i v.'» and join with the borough count:! m the Country Library Service. “This was fully considered and your committee has agreed that owing to the high cost of books and the probable increase in expenditure which would be incurred it was considered not practical at the present time to invite these counties to participate in the Country Library Service and recommends that no action be taken.
