“CHURCHILL” SCHOOL
IN MEMORY OF A GREAT MAN
\ INVERCARGILL SUGGESTION The selection of a suitable name for the new intermediate school in Invercargill was discussed by members of the Southland Education Board on Friday. “Churchill” was suggested as a name which would perpetuate in the minds of school children the memory of a great figure in history,, and “Tweed Street” was put forward as a suitable name because of the location of the school. It was decided to discuss a suitable name at the next meeting of the board. May 24, Empire Day, was fixed as the opening day of the new school.
