CHARGE FOR WATER
DAIRY COMPANY OBJECTS CLAIMED RATE TOO HIGH At the April meeting of the Thames County Council a letter was received from the New Zealand Dairy Company stating that the iprice charged for extra water used in the Matatoki factory was too high. Owing to the shortage of water, the council had installed a meter in the factory and charged 9d per 1000 gallons for ■ all water used above the amount covered by the annual charge of £25.
“I think it should be made clear that the council’s action was more to curtail the use of water than to get more money out of the company,” said Cr. C. D. Stone.
The council resolved to meet representatives of the company at next month’s meeting.
