ADMITTANCE TO HOSPITAL .

FARMERS’ UNION ENQUIRY

At the April meeting of the Thames Hospital Board the Coroglen-Whenu-akite branch of the New Z: 2 land Farmers’ Union wrote enquiring whether a doctor’s certificate was needed before a person could be admitted to hospital. The secretary, Mr G. C. Donovan, wrote as under: —

“At a recent meeting of the Coro-glen-Whenuakite branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union I was instructed to write asking you if a person requiring urgent medical attention has to have an outside doctor’s certificate before they can be admitted to hospital.”

! The secretary, Mr A. L. Neighbour, Was instructed to reply that a doctor’s certificate was necessary before a patient could be admitted to the hospital except in an emergency or because of an accident.
