“NO PARKING” AREA

MOVE THE TAXI STAND

REQUEST FROM HARE BROS.

A request for a “No Parking” area in Hughendon street opposite their back entrance was made for Hare Bros, of Paeroa, by Mr A. T. Jones, to Thursday night’s meeting of the Paeroad Borough Council. Mr Jones wrote to the council as follows:—

“I have received your letter of March 15 informing me that your council declines to make the frontage to Messrs Hare Bros.’ premises a ‘no parking’ area. As an alteration would your council be prepared to alter the site of the present taxi stand in Hughendon street by moving it either backwards or forwards to or from Belmont road.

“It it were moved forward it would enable Messi's Hare Bros, to use that part of Hughendon street immediately behind it and if backward that part of Hughendon street immediately adjoining Belmont road. If either of these suggestions were agreed to it would facilitate Messrs Hare Bros’, business and at the same time be without detriment to the user of the taxi stand.

The Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, stated that he had inspected the site and spoken to the taxi driver who was using the stand. The taxi-driver did not object to being moved forward but objected to a “No Parking” area behind his stand. He objected to being moved further back. It was decided to advise Mr Jones that the council could not accede to the request.
