SEASON OPENED
PAEROA GOLF CLUB CANADIAN FOURSOME PLAYED On Saturday afternoon last, members of the Paeroa Golf Club and . visitors gathered in force for the \ opening of the 1943 season on the links at Rotokchu. Mr A. E. Day, president of the club extended a welcome to members and visitors, and drew their attention to the great improvements to the course after only four seasons on the club’s new property. The works programme during the summer had included the laying down of a very large area in new grass on which there was six permanent greens. In concluding hig address' Mr Day said all would agree that the golf course was a monument to those responsible for its development. He then called upon Mrs L. Jones, the ladies’ club captain, to drive the first ball whereupon he declared the season open.
Play for the afternoon was a Canadian foursomes, the best scores returned being:—Mrs Nicol and Mr Primrose, 46—-14—32; Mrs W. Tubman and Mr Johnstone, 50—15—35; Mrs Ripley and Major Murray, 43 7—36; Mrs C. Lewis and Mr G. Bain, 51—12 —39.
