WELCOME HOME

FUNCTION AT NETHERTO ( N TWO SOLDIERS HONOURED One of the evenings to which we all look forward to was held in the Netherton Hall last Thursday night. In spite of the inclement weather the residents of Netherton and surrounding districts turned out in full force to welcome home Ptes. Eddie Johnson and Claude Fraser.

The evening was spent in dancing ■ to the music supplied by Fishajf’s Orchestra. Mrs Laurent and Miss'M. Sarjant played extras which were much appreciated. The statue waltz ' was won by Mrs J. Gordon and Miss Murphy and the Monte Carlo by Allan Paul and Miss Muriel Sarjant. Euchre prizes were won by Miss Edna Morrison and Master Sarjant.,

After supper Mr L. Sanderson, who - apologised for the absence of Mr J., A. Reid, welcomed the boys home and made a small presentation. Mr Pearce also spoke to the returned men, after which both suitably replied.

Mr C. Townshend carried out the duties of M.C.

The singing of God Save the King brought a very enjoyable evening to a close. i
