BROADCAST TO HIS COUNTRY

H.M. the 'King of the Hellenes, is seen in the accompanying illustration, broadcasting a message to his country, in the British Broadcasting Corporation’s Greek News Bulletin, on the second' anniversary of the Italian invasion of Greece.

King George 11. of Greece succeeded to the .throne in September, 1922. Disputes with Italy, culminating in the bombardment of Corfu, marked his brief reign, and caused republic to be proclaimed. The King was recalled by a national plebiscite in November, 1935. In September 1941, he came again to Britain, with members of his Government, as a result of the German invasion of Greece.
