COROGLEN-WHENUAKITE

ANNUAL MEETING OF UNION There was a good attendance of members when the Coroglen-Whenua-kite Branch of the N.Z.F.U. held its annual meeting in Coroglen (Hall recently. The balance sheet showing a small balance was approved. The chairman’s report of the year’s activities disclosed that although the branch had held one less meeting than during the previous year the average attendance had been maintained. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: — President, Mr W. A. Hamilton; secretary and treasurer, Mr G. S. 'Donovan; delegate to sub-provincial executive, Mr E. M. Minifie; extra delegate to annual sub-provincial meeting, Mr M. H. McKay. It was decided that branch meetings during the winter should be held at night at times and places to be arranged by the secretary. The annual meeting was followed by the first ordinary meeting of the new, year.

Among the matters discussed were the installation of a telephone at Te Kauanga wharf, the proposed Government fixation of prices at pig sales, the admission of country patients to hospital, pig insurance, grazing of saleyard paddocks and the question of discrimination against country women in the matter of sale specials. On some of these matters the secretary was instructed to obtain further information while in others he was asked to endeavour to improve the present position. The meeting closed at a late hour with a vote of thanks to Mr Minifie for the use of the hall.
