MUSICAL COMEDY ON ICE
PROGRAMME AT REGENT BEAUTY AND GAY ROMANCE The first musical comedy on ice, “Ice-Capades” featuring ?.the world’s most celebrated champions including Megan Taylor, Vera Rhuba, Dorothy 'Lewis, Phil Taylor ‘ and many other prominent members of the -Swiss Ice Ballet that played in New Zealand in 1940 to capacity houses, will show at the Regent Theatre on Tuesday and Wednesday.
“Ice-Capades” presents a -thousand and one spectacular thrills against -an. enchanting background of dazzling beauty and gay romance! Skimming over an enormous rink in an exquisite setting, Dorothy Lewis will skate her way directly into the hearts of local film-goers in “Ice Capades.” With beauty, youth and charm to her credit, she brings new freshness to the screen.
The picture is embroidered with the combined talents of all of the stars of the “lee Canades” roa-d show, including Megan Taylor who enjoys the ( distinction of having climaxed a meteoric, career by winning the world’s amateur figure skating championships two years in a row. Her father, Phil Taylor, who skates on stilts and Red McCarthy, who has performed his spectacular barrel jumping stunt before an estimated ten million people.
