A “GET-TOGETHER”
PAEROA BOY SCOUT TROOP FUNCTION FRIDAY EVENING Friday evening was the occasion, of another of the Paeroa Boy Scout Troop’s, popular monthly “get-togeth-er” evenings. There was a small attendance hut the bad weather did nothing to dampen the spirits of those present.
On this occasion, however, owing to the inclement' weather, the function, which is usually held .in the “Dell”, had to be held elsewhere. The “get-together” is held as a stimulant for the boys to work and work hard for another evening. The supper, which concludes the functions, is wholly supplied by the boys, and a good variety pf food is soon done full justice to.
The only regular routine followed was the “Fall in,” “Salute” and “Break-off,” after which a hearty sing-song of popular choruses was ably led by Mr W. Barclay. As some of the boys had combs and tissuepaper, some of the choruses went with a swing.
As a special treat the workings of a dictaphone were explained and the boys were able to hear their own voices which, strange to say, surprised most of the boys. At a suitable period a plentiful supper was quickly dispensed with, after which names of entrants for the gardener’s badge were called for, a -satisfactory total resulting. To conclude a very enjoyable evening, Scoutmaster C. N. O’Neill, led the boys in the Lord’s Prayer, which was earnestly said by the parading boys.
