DANCE AT PURIRI

FUNDS TO BUILD A PAVILION SUCCESSFUL EVENING The dance held in the Puriri Hall last week, under the auspices of the Hikutaia Polo Club, to raise funds for the purpose of erecting a pavilion at the Puriri picnic ground, proved to be a great success. , The large crowd present was well satisfied with the music, supper and all in all, the whole function. During the evening Mr G. Flavell, who carried out his duties as M.C. in his usual efficient manner, thanked all •those who had helped in the running of the dance. Mr Flavell, on behalf ■of the Hikutaia Polo Club, then presented Mr D. Courtney with the proceeds of the dance.

Mr Courtney, speaking' on 'behalf of the Puriri people, thanked the Hikutaia Polo Club and stated that there would be other similar functions held in Puriri until enough money was raised to erect the proposed pavilion. “I hope that all future functions will be as successful as that held to-night,” said Mr Courtney.

i. The spot waltz was won by Mrs W. J. O’Hara and Mr A. Alley, while the Monte Carlo was won by Mrs O’Hara and Mr B. Alley. Miss 'N. Gwilliam ' won the lucky door prize. Excellent dance music was supplied by the New Collegians’ Orchestra, extras being played by Messrs L. Hunter and Morrison.
