THE Hauraki Plains Gazette. With which is Incorporated THE OHINEMURI GAZETTE. MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY “Public Service." WEDNESDAY, MARCH 31, 1943 NOTEWORTHY SERVICE

During the last war the Y.M.C.A. did noteworthy service in ministering to the needs of our soldiers on the home and overseas fronts, and providing a valued contribution to the amenities of their lives, both in camp and in the field of active operations. The fact .is recalled by the tribute paid to this organisation at the Y.M.C.A. biennial convention luncheon in Wellington for its services in the present was as one of the spending agencies of the National Patriotic Fund Board.

The tribute does not in any way detract from the services also being rendered by the other organisations associated with the work of the board, in their own particular fields of effort. The Y.M.C.A., however, as was pointed out at the luncheon, is the board’s biggest spending agency, and this brings into prominence the immense scope of its activities which the machinery of its organisation enables it to cover very effectively. The public, accordingly, will heartily endorse the compliments extended to the Y.M.C.A. on the occasion of its biennial convention. This assembly should provide useful and valuable material for the guidance of the association in planning its programmes for the difficult years that lie ahead, for its task will not be ended when peace comes.
