LARGE SCOW AT WHITIANGA OLD TIMES AGAIN RECALLED At about midnight on Saturday a. large scow, the Seagull, en route to Auckland frdm Tauranga, found port at Whitianga. This vessel had. called at Mercury Bay, for the purpose" of loading large kauri logs forthe Kauri Timber Company on Sunday, but it was discovered the scow drew too much water, and the quest had to be abandoned until spring tide. The logs were on the mud, but the scow, -which has a dead-weight of 129 tons, could not risk going up the river for the logs. The departure of the Seagull in brilliant sunshine on Sunday morning was a'4 sight which thrilled many a sea-far-ing heart. '
There are times in most people’s lives when they ask themselves the age-old question: “Is life worth living?” And if you have never felt like that you should shake hands with yourself, for you are very lucky. Low spirits some time arise from “liver,” but more often, perhaps, from worry. In tho latter case tobacco smoke has often been known to exorcise the Demon. Seek the seclusion of your “den,” make yourself load the old briar with Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead), light up, and as you sit there at your ease watching the blue smoke wreaths float upwards they will carry your cares with them— Richard will be himself again! There’s something so comforting in, this beautiful toasted tobacco! Cut Plug 10 isthe old smokers’ favourite, but .if, you prefer a medium blend try Gayendish or Navy Cut No. 3 (Bulldog). If you are a cigarette smoker, “roll . your own’’ with Riverhead Gold or Desert Gold. All these brands are equally efficacious as worry.-dispellers,. ■ and being toasted they are safe, no master &ow freely you may indulge.
