UNDERWEIGHT CALVES

TOTAL LOSS TO BE PAID WARNING TO ALL FARMERS That underweight or condemned bobby calves were a total loss to the pool was emphasised by Mr Hastings, P.M.A. organiser, when speaking at the annual meeting of the HikutaiaWharepoa Bobby Calf Pool. Mr Hastings pointed out that any calf under weight or condemned was a total loss to the industry as the Government subsidy of 2s plus Is 9d, being 3s 9d realisation on the meat, was the only return received by the pool. He therefore urged all farmers to keep the calves the regulation three days so that no under-weight calves would be received at the works.
