FAREWELL AT KEREPEEHI

MR & MRS PARSONS HONOURED

There was a large gathering of Home Guardsmen and friends at the luncheon held in the Kerepeehi Hall in honour of Mr and Mrs W. Parsons who are leaving the district to take up their residence in Auckland. Captain Barnbrook introduced the guests of honour and said how the Home Guard would miss Mr Persons who had been a capable and efficient officer, always ready to play his part. Lieutenant Parsons had been a member of the Kerepeehi School Committee, the Kerepeehi Ratepayers’ Association and. the R.S.A. for years. Mrs Parsons had helped in the Plunket Society, library, Women’s Division and filled, the office of organist of St. Peter’s Church for a number of years and had always given her services whenever needed for the welfare of the district. Guardsman C. Pearce said he had known the. guests for many years and

they had always given of their best services for the welfare of the community. Guardsman H. Jamieson endorsed the previous speakers’ remarks. In making the presentation of a cheque to Lt. Parsons and Mrs Parsons, Capt. G. Barnbrook extended to them the good wishes of all present and hoped they would find health, happiness and prosperity in the future.
