CHRISTMAS EVE.
LARGE CROWD IN PAEROA.
HAPPY HOLIDAY THRONG.
RECORD BUSINESS RECORDED. The weather conditions were not of the best for a good, shopping Christmas Eve, but nevertheless, this did not deter the people from coming 'Out. That Paeroa is gradually becoming the trading centre of an ever-widening area of territory, combined with the fact that the retailers have not been slow to recognise this, is no doubt the keynote of the situation. The tradespeople have shown enterprise, and today supplies to’satisfy all can be purchased in the town.
The skill with which the shopkeepers displayed their wares was creditable indeed, and in no small measure helped to make the day interesting and attractive to visitors. Business was fairly brisk all day, but the big rush commenced in the early evening and continued right up to closing time. A late night will be observed on Tuesday for the New Year shopping.
