PAEROA HIGH SCHOOL.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. 1 The monthly meeting of the Paeroa District High School Committee was held on Tuesday evening, Mr C. T. Mettam, deputy-chairman, presiding over Messrs J. Brocket, W. Perston, C. Holes, R. Lowry, and G. E. Allen, secretary. Accounts totallling £3 9s 7d were passed for payment. Details of the Government Census and Statistics Office’s scheme for the collection of household budgets to enable him to prepare cost of living index numbers were received from the Government Statistician. It was agreed that should any householder desire to enter the competition, full particulars would be obtained by the secretary on application to him. The headmaster reported that he had made application to the secretary of the Herbert Smith Trust for several trophies for competition among school children, with the result that the trustees had been good enough to award four trophies, as under : ~ One cup as individual prize for high school boys’ athletics, under 15, and one cup for girls. A challenge cup, with miniature, for high school steeplechase, under 15 years, and a challenge, cup, with miniature, for primary school steeplechase. The trustees invited applications for further cups next year.
