ELECTRIC COOKERY.
DEMONSTRATION AT PAEROA. 5' - — GREAT INTEREST DISPLAYED. On Monday and Tuesday demonstrations were given by the Thames Valley Electric Power Board at Paei roa in economical cooking by electric stoves. On both days there was a large attendance of women, who listened with great interest to Mrs Miller, who explained the various points of economy in electrical cooking and the corserv- ■ ing of power to the minimum cost in doing so. Mrs Miller also fully answered any questions put to her. On Monday Mrs Miller cooked a full dinner and baked various sorts of cakes, large and small, demonstrating how one heating could be used to do a whole day’s cooking. The cakes were served with afternoon tea, the sponges J especially coming in for admiring praise. Some facts which practically stressed themselves were the cleanliness, absence of blackened pots, and the delightful coolness of the work, despite the hot day. As a result of the demonstration many stoves were sold. The Thames Valley Power Board is now considering having a regular demonstrator on its staff, with headquarters at Te for the whole of the board’s area. DEMONSTRATION AT NGATEA. Women from almost all parts of the Hauraki Plains visited Wednesday last to witness demonstrations of cooking and of the use of electric stoves. The demonstration was held in the Ngatea Hall under the auspices of the Thames Valley Power Board, and while the cakes, scones, etc., for morning and afternoon tea were being prepared explanations were given on costs and economical management. i
