PIPIROA. EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE. MR. & MRS. NEATE HONOURED. At a euchre party and dance held in the Pipiroa Hall on Tuesday last Mrs Keene, on behalf of the dance committee, made® presentation of a handsome handbag to Mrs Neate and a memento to Mr Neate, M.C. In an appropriate speech Mrs Keene referred to the valuable services renedered by Mr Neate as M.C. at so many functions on the Plains. It was mainly due to his efforts and the able manner in which he carried out his duties that these were so popular and successful. The presents were merely a token of the esteem in which Mr and Mrs Neate were held by the committee, who trusted they would accept them in the spirit in which they were given. The audience, standing, joined in according Mr and Mrs Neate musical honours, and cheered as only a Pipiroa audience can sing and cheer. Mr Neate was taken entirely by surprise at the presentation and his popularity. Visibly affected, on behalf of Mrs Neate and himself, he thanked the members of the committee for their kindness, and stated that they both were only too pleased at all times to do all in their power for the benefit of any worthy cause, including assisting in providing innocent amusement for the young people, and if this was obtained they were amply rewarded for any sacrifice it demanded. The euchre prizes were won by Mesdames Bower and Gibson, and Messrs Williams and McConnell. The Monte Carlo waltz prize went to Miss Brydon and partner.

During the evening Mr Mcllvride accompanied ,by Miss Gubb, sang “The Trumpeter” and “Star of the Morn.” Mr King’s Ngatea orchestra provided the music for the dance, with the exception of two extras played by Miss Gubb.
