PAEROA RIFLE CLUB.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. COMPETITIONS ARRANGED. The committee of the Paeroa Defence Rifle Club met on Tuesday night, the president, Mr F. C. Hubbard, presiding over Captain H. Simmonds and Riflemen L. Morris, R. I. Roberts, E. Turton, and A. A. Jenkinson (secretary). A letter was received from a vicepresident of the club enclosing a donation, and it was decided to write and thank him. Accounts totalling £6 6s 9d were passed for payment. Postponed Practice. It was decided to hold the practice shoot at 800yds and 900yds ranges, which was postponed last Saturday, on Saturday next, and to commence the club competitions the following Saturday. Competitions. The committee resolved to have this season four rounds of three shoots each for the club championship and handicap aggregate, in order to have more shooting at the longer ranges, the rounds to be as follows : First, 300yds and 500yds, 500yds and 600yds, and 800yds and 900yds; second, 300yds and 500yds, 300yds and 600yds, and 800yds and 900yds ; third, the same as the first, and the fourth to be the same as the second. The dates for the three shoots of the first round were fixed for the 23rd and 30th inst., and December 7. On Saturday, December ' 14, a service shoot will be held. Trophy Shoots. On Saturday, November 23, in addition to the firing of the first shoot of the club championship and handicap aggregate, a handicap competition will be held for the trophy presented by Mr H. M. Shand. The trophy presented by the Farmers’ Trading Co., Ltd., will be shot for at the first competition shoot at 500yds and 600yds, on November 30. It was decided to hold over the competition for President Hubbard’s trophy until the second round of the competitions. Donation of Trophy. Rifleman R. I. Roberts intimated that he would donate a trophy to the club, and gave the committee power to decide when and from what ranges it would be shot for. A vote of thanks, carried by acclamation, was accorded the donor. It was also decided to hold this trophy over until the second round. Handicaps. Although the hadicapping committee has been empowered to work on the automatic handicapping system, it was decided at the meeting that the committee should allot the handicaps at its own discretion for the first short range and the first long range of the club competitions. t
