PASSENGER CARRYING?
COMFORT AND SAFETY. NEW ERA USHERED IN. A new era of passenger transport has been ushered in locally by the arrival of the first two of a series of new type buses to augment the fleet owned by the Waihi-Paeroa Transport Co., Ltd., in keeping with its policy to remain abreagt of everything that is new in passenger transport matters. The new buses are of the most modern design in the transport world today. Both from the engineering and structural points of view they are the last word in perfection- The 75 h.p. engines are powerful, reliable, and—an added comfort for passengers - silent. To banish shocks to the realms of bad dreams, the rear wheels are fitted with double twin balloon tyres, and the seats are of the semi-bucket type, with double sprung cushions that are conducive to every comfort. The interior is roomy—there is no cramping of space—and luggage will be carried inside at the back, thus obviating the many disadvantages of luggage being carried on the usual outside rack. The most important thing in travelling to-day, that of safety, has received special consideration, the buses being fitted with the latest fourwheel hydraulic brakes; while the emergency door, instead of being a narrow apology for an exit at the back of the vehicle with the key at the other end, is a full-sized one of the ordinary entrance door type. The new buses will first be placed on the Paeroa-Auckland and PaeroaWaihi runs, so that whether on short or long journeys travellers will be able to enjoy the relaxing luxuriousness of these now vehicles. In them it will be the matter of travelling in the comfort of an arm-chair. Besides its passenger routes, this enterprising company at its headquarters in Paeroa maintains a fully up-to-date and equipped public garage, recently considerably extended to cope with an increased clientele and staffed by expert mechanics. ■ A specially built movable ramp has been installed, by means of which any vehicle, from a heavy lorry to a light car, can be elevated without the slightest trouble for the facilitating of repairs underneath. As well as the garage, the Waihi-Paeroa Transport Co. is the accredited district agent for the Ford car, an agency that in itself is a recommendation. For the convenience of passengers the Paeroa building contains a ladies’ rest-room and a gentlemen’s dressing room. As previously stated, the WaihiPaeroa Transport Co., Ltd., has its headquarters in Paeroa, with branches at Waihi and at 20 Customs Street, Auckland. Besides the Paeroa-Auck-land and Paeroa-Waihi services, a regular service is maintained with Thames. - Away from these routes, the company, in agreement with the White Star' organisation, is able to convey passengers by motor throughout the length and breadth of New Zealand.
