PAEROA-POKENO LINE.

SURVEY TO BE MADE. GRANT ON THE ESTIMATES. A sum of £5OOO is to be placed on the Supplementary Estimates to enable a thorough survey to be made of the route of the proposed PaeroaPokeno railway. This decision was announced by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, in the House of Representatives on Monday evening when speaking on the Railways Authorisation Bill. Mr Ransom said the railway had been authorised, but it was considered that there were more urgent works to attend to first. However, provision was being made in the Supplementary Estimates so that the survey could be completed and a start made with the work when the time was opportune.
