PAEROA TO POKENO.
CONSTRUCTION OF LINE.
GOVERNMENT’S INTENTIONS.
Endeavours to secure the Government’s decision with regard to the Paeroa-Pokeno railway link was unsuccessfully made in the House last week.
Replying to inquiries of Auckland members the Minsiter of Public Works (Hon. E. A. Ransom) said he had already submitted a paper on the subject to the Cabinet as to whether construction should be commenced on the railway which had been so long authorised.
Not satisfied with the Minister’s reply, Mr A. M. Samuel (Thames) again raised the matter, saying he would not be satisfied with the placing of £4,000 or £5,000 on the Supplementary Estimates for the work; he wanted to know whether the GovernMinister should give more informament was sincere in the .matter.
