PAEROA RUGBY UNION.

FINAL MEETING.

PRESENTATION TO MEMBER. The final meeting for the season of the Paeroa Rugby Union was held last Friday evening, Mr J. M. Crosby presiding over Messrs J. C. H. McDonald, W. Neil, E. Shaw, J. Walmsley, and W. A. Fathers, hon. secretary. The action of the chairman and secretary in lending the representative jerseys to the Oddfellows team was approved. The secretary was instructed to write to the various clubs advising them that they were responsible for. the safe custody of the cups they had won during the year until next season. The matter of the safe-keeping of jerseys and balls was left to the chairman and secretary.

The engraving of trophies was left in the hands of Mr Walmsley and the secretary.

It was decided to hold a special meeting one month before the next annual meeting to consider electing two members by the annual meeting and one by each affiliated club to the Paeroa Rugby Union committee. A resolution was passed expressing appreciation of the way in which the Referees’ Association had helped the union.

It was decided to send of thanks to Mr W. Bain for the use of his room for meetings and for his donation of £1 Is, and to the assistant secretary, Mr D. Fraser, for his aid in making the annual dance a success. Accounts totalling £1 5s were passed for payment. Presentataion. On behalf of the union the chairman presented to Mr McDonald a goldmounted fountain pen on the occasion of his imminent departure for Greymouth. In making the presentation Mr Crosby in an appropriate speech spid how valuable Mr McDonald’s services had been to the union, of which he had been an enthusiastic and helpful member. Not only had Mr McDonald helped the union, but Paeroa generally, as he had interested himself in anything that was for the good of sport and for Paeroa as a town. On the conclusion of the chairman’s speech each member eulogised Mr McDonald’s services to the union, Mr McDonald suitably responding. Balance. Upon the secretary reporting that after squaring all accounts there was a crediti balance of £24 in hand, Mr Shaw expressed the great satisfaction of members at this agreeable state of affairs, which was a matter for congratulation to the chairman and secretary.
