SWIMMING.
THE PAEROA CLUB. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. • At a meeting of the Paeroa Swimming Club held last Friday Mr W. D. Nicholas, president, presided over Messrs A. C. Clowes, D. Currie, F. Hayward, L. McDonald, P. Meachem, H. H. Priestley, G. S. Tayboys, F. G. Williams, and D. Fraser, hon. secretary. South Auckland Carnival. It was decided to instruct the delegates to the South Auckland Centre’s meeting on October" 29 that the club was willing to have the South Auckland championship carnival held at Paeroa. Opening Night. It was decided to hold the opening night on November 15, and that a small open, free, carnival should be held during the evening with the following events : 33 l-3yds, boys under 14, and 16 and under ; girls under 17, ladies, and men. 66 2-3yds, men. Diving, ladies, and men. Carnivals. Approximate dates for carnivals during the ensuing season were settled upon as follows : Exhibition carnival, early in December, if the two Australian champion swimmers, Ryan and Greer, are available ; South Auckland championship carnival (if secured), early in February ; club carnival, towards the end of February ; second club carnival, early in March. A sub-committee was appointed to go into the matter of more efficient lighting of the baths for carnivals. It was decided to procure correct racing tapes, and also water polo gear. General. Mr D. Fraser was appointed club captain, and Mr C. Farrar re-appoint-ed club steward for the ensuing season. The secretary was instructed to write to ,each member and forward a precis of the proposed programme for the year. It was agreed that all members of the Thames club could join the Paeroa club should they so desire. The secretary was instructed to write to the Ngatea club, which this year is not affiliating with the South Auckland Centre, inviting members of that club to become members of the Paeroa club. The Te Aroha club wrote stating a club had been formed there, and had affiliated with the South Auckland Centre.
SOUTH AUCKLAND MEETING. At the meeting of the South Auckland Centre held last evening in Hamilton, Morrinsville was decided upon as the venue for the South Auckland championship carnival. The various championship races were allotted at follows : Men: 50yds, Morrinsville ; 100yds, Paeroa ; 220yds, Waihi; 440yds, Te Awamutu. Ladies : 75yds, Te Awamutu; 50yds, Hamilton.
