The Sacrament of Confirmation will be administered at St. Paul’s Church on Wednesday evening by the Lord Bishop of the Diocese, the Rt. Rev. C. A. Cherrington.
The Public Works Department’s Estimates for the year ending March 31, 1930, give an amount of £22,406 as already expended on the PaeroaPokeno railway, and sets the estimated amout to complete the undertaking at £1,047,038.
A higher standard for the proficiency certificate awarded to pupils completing a primary school course, and an extension of free-place to privileges to those considered fit to enter technical schools, but no other secondary schools, are provided for in the amending regulations to the Education Act which have been gazetted. The new regulations will take effect at once.
Intimation has been received in Paeroa of the resignation of the position of Grand Secretary, Druids Lodge, by Bro. John Grant, Wellington. MiGrant has held this office in the North Island Grand Lodge of Druids for over twenty years, and has been a dominant figure in the Order throughout that period.
