The first member of the Maori race to be elevated to the dignity of archdeacon was instituted in that office on Sunday. He was the Rev. Hori Raiti, of Huntly. The service was conducted by Bishop Cherrington in St. Paul’s Cathedral, Hamilton, before a very large congregation of Maoris and Europeans. Mr Raiti was presented by Canon J. L. A. Kayll, and was instituted Archdeacon of Te Tai Hauauru. The Rev, K. A. Karaka, of Morrinsville also was installed as canon of the cathedral.

This week’s number of the “N.Z. Sporting and Dramatic Review ‘ is essentially a local one, <vith the very latest current events graphically illustrated.
