A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

HAURAKI BODY MEETS. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SHOW. At a committee meeting of the Hauraki A. and P. Association on Monday night Mr P. R. Hubbard, president, presided over the Rev. J. Lowden, Messrs A. J. Andrews, E. P. Fathers, H. J. Hare, C. N. O’Neill, E. L. Shaw, A. North Szigetvary, B. E. Veale, and E. Edwards, secretary. Before any business was dealt with a vote of sympathy was passed to Mr D. Sheehan and family for the loss of one of their family, the members standing a moment in silence as a token of respect in memory. The following business in connection with the forthcoming show was gone into :— Shorthorn Entries. On the subject of Shorthorn entries Mr Andrews questioned the small entries of Shorthorns. He was of the opinion that the prize-money in that class was too small, and the competition was too pool’ to offer an owner any inducement to enter an animal. The secretary explained that Shorthorn breeders had been going over to Jerseys. The prize-money for Jerseys was greater than that for any other breed because the N.Z. Jersey Association and the Thames Valley Jersey Breeders’ Club each contributed £1 for £1 of whatever the association gave. Wine Exhibits. The Rev. Lowden considered that it was unfair to allow wholesale wine dealers to sell Christmas hampers, etc., on the ground, whereas local retailers were not allowed to do so. The secretary explained that only exhibits of New Zealand wine were allowed by law. The exhibitors were charged Is 6d, paying usually from 15s to £1 for space. After some discussion it was decided to charge wine exhibitors a minimum of £l. General. Verbal tenders for the refreshment booths were left in the hands of the secretary to arrange. It was decided to provide hot water free. Working bees were arranged for November 29 and December 1. The matter of obtaining grass for cattle fodder for the day of the show was left in the hands of the secretary. It was agreed to contribute £lO towards the redivision of the saleyards by.the lessees. For industrial exhibits the meeting decided to increase the price of space for non-members to 2s a foot, members to pay the old price of Is 6d. Two members voted against the increase. Instead of the usual wooden watering trough at the saleyards, it was decided to use tanks, as the former was not considered fit for the use of show cattle. Donations.
