A New Zealander now on an extended tour of the world, writing from Chicago, makes some striking comments op the steps taken by the police to preserve law and order in that city. He states that the city police all carry batons and revolvers (not hidden). There are forty squad cars out with four men in each, all the time, patrolling the city. The cars are all equipped with radio, and pick up calls from central. They also each carry a ma-chine-gun.
