Before mending a hole in the toe or heel of a stocking, overcast all round the edge and draw up slightly and the area to be darned will be reduced by half. Use discarded butter-pape rfo covering boiled puddings. Tie the paper on with string and fasten one end of the string at the other side, thus making a handle to life the pudding. This saves pudding cloths and washing.
