In bright sunshine and in the presence of several hundred natives and pakeha visitors, a new meeting house was opened with all ceremonies at Bowentown on Sunday last. Following the opening, a big spread was held, at which many people were seated. Later in the day a football match was played, the opposing teams being Bowentown and Matakana, the match resulting in a win for Matakana. Altogether it was one of the most picturesque scenes in the district for many a day, everyone, without exception, being tremendously happy.
