MILITARY NOTES.
COURSES. A platoon weapon course will be held at Trentham from October’ 13 to 19. Training in rifles, Lewis-guns, bombs, smoke bombs, etc., will be undergone. One officer and two n.c.o.’s will attended from the Hauraki regimental district. At the same time a medical course will be held for the Medical Corps. Concurrently with this, instruction in first-aid will be given to other units. One lance-corporal from the Hauraki regimental district will attend the latter. On October 27 an advanced machinegun course for officers of the territorial force will begin at Trentham. One officer from the Hauraki’s will attend. Consolidated training for first-year territorials and cadets of the 2nd Cadet Battalion will be carried out at Tirau from October 7 to 12, under the direction of Staff Sergeant-Major W. Bates, D.C.M. There will be no further courses as far as the No. 2 Regimental District is concerned until January, when officers and n.c.o.’s of secondary school units will attend a cadet course at Narrow Neck. THE HAURAKI REGIMENT. Regimental Colour. The regimental colour’ of the Hauraki’s has been changed from light blue to light blue and dark blue, so as to include the dark blue of its allied regiment, the Ox and Bucks. The regimental flag will in future be a tricolour, light blue, dark blue, light blue, with “The Hauraki Regiment” in letters across the centre colour. Promotion. Lieutenant J. M. Allen, Ist battalion, to be captain. Dated September 29, 1929.
